Morning after pill contains
levonorgestrel or ulipristal that acts an emergency contraceptive method. It is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancy from unprotected sexual intercourses. It contains only progestin called levonorgestrel is similar to the women's natural hormone, progesterone. After taking Morning after pill, you may experience bloating, tiredness, fatigue, weakness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation,
abdominal pain, indigestion, upset GIT etc. It may cause irregular
uterine bleeding like heavy, scanty, prolonged, short or cessation of periods.
Breakthrough bleeding or
spotting between periods may also be seen after taking Morning after pill. Other side effects of Morning after pill are headache, sweating, dizziness, changes in appetite, acnes, facia hair growth, mood swings, depression, breast tenderness and enlargement, changes in sleep pattern,
vaginal discharge, vaginal bleeding, allergic reactions etc. These side effects usually go away within 24-48 hours. But, if these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should inform your doctor first for
medical help. If you think that you can get pregnant, then do a pregnancy test at home 7 days after the next missed period.
