What Causes Stomach Cramps And Bloating While Sleeping?

Hi, This has happened a few times over the past 3 to 4 years. It usually occurs when I am sleeping, but this time it just occurred while awake. Suddenly my stomach starting cramping and I became gassy but then had to go to the bathroom with mild diarrhea and nausea. While using the bathroom, I felt heat rise in my body until almost passing out. I literally had to remove my clothing to cool down. It lasted maybe 12 minutes and now I m just in recovery mode.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Increased body temperature can occur as part of the body's inflammatory response. It does not occur with all aspects of inflammation but it is possible. Inflammation causes the release of chemicals that cause an increase in temperature.

The fact that the gassy sensation, loose stools and nausea occur intermittently imply that it is not likely related to an infection.

It can be due to food intolerance or allergy, side effect of medication, irritable bowel syndrome.

You may need assessment by an gastroenterologist.

I hope this helps.
