What Causes Stomach Cramps And Diarrhea While On Metformin?
i can not take the 2 doses of metformin any more 500 ea because o f severe stomach cramps and diarehea so they put me on fargia 10 mg which did not loer sugar now they gave me tradjenta with 500 mg broke in half to take 2 times a day what do you think
Diarrhea and abdominal cramps are common side effects of metformin when one begins metformin therapy. The symptoms resolve with time.
However, if you have been stabilized on metformin for quite a while before the cramps and diarrhea start, it may be a pointer to something else such as Lactic acidosis, a severe side effect of metformin, in which the chemical, lactate is too much in the blood.
Please, whichever category you fall into, review with your doctor as soon as you can.
I hope i have answered your question.
Warm regards.
