Hi,
Women with
polycystic ovarian syndrome can present with irregularity in menstrual cycles due to reproductive hormonal imbalance and
insulin resistance. Nausea, abdominal cramps, spotting, hot flashes, etc. symptoms can be seen during the premenstrual period also apart from early pregnancy. As you are not on any
contraceptive measure at present the possibility of pregnancy cannot be ruled out.
So if you want to be sure, please go for a
blood test for pregnancy or ultrasound. Blood test for pregnancy is comparatively more accurate than urine pregnancy test if
serum beta HCG levels in the blood test are less than 5 mIU/mL that rules out the possibility of pregnancy. Ultrasound helps in ruling out the possibility of pregnancy and also in assessing the present status of PCOS. As you started spotting, if the pregnancy test gives a negative result, you may get menstrual flow soon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
