What Causes Stomach Pain And Indigestion After An Upper Extremity Angiogram?

Had upper extremity angiogram this morning. Started feeling stomach pain around five hours ago. Thought it was indigestion or something at first from drinking some Coke. Took tums but didn t help. Could this be a rxn to mess from angiogram? They gave me Valium and delautid. What can I do to get rid of this feeling?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be a gastritis secondary to the contrast material used for the angiogram or fasting for the procedure.

As a first line management you can take over the counter available antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persists better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family physician
