What Causes Stomach Pain And Severe Cramping?

hi doc,i am 52, i have shoveled snow 4 days ago the next I had back ach, i took ibuprofen, then my back ache gone but from 3 days I have stomach pain, pain is not continuous but the pain comes like severe cramping and then relieved for several times in a day. Have flatulence prob. what is the reason for stomach pain. do I need to get an ultra sound..

Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, it seems that you might be having gastritis as a result of taking painkiller like Ibuprofen.

I would advise that you should take an antacid like Omeprazole 40mg once a day before meals.
You can also take antacid in gel or liquid form.

Following precautions will be helpful :-
1.Avoid spicy and oily foods.
2.Avoid being empty stomach for long periods.
3.Avoid smoking and alcohol, if any.
4.Drink lots of water daily.
