What Causes Stomach Pain Radiating To Back And Shoulder?

Hi, I have had stomach issues since I was little, my doctor at an early age diagnosed me with nervous stomach, then when I was about 18 or 19 I had gastritis. Since then I have had some problems with my stomach off and on, and in the past several months, it has increased and seems to hurt more often than not. I have a dull, sharp pain in the top of my stomach that will sometimes move to my right side just under my rib cage. The pain will often shoot into my back and sometimes into my right shoulder. But the pain is more in the top middle of my abdominal area, and can run into my chest almost like very bad heart burn. My doctor has put me on omeprazol but it has not done anything. Does it sound like this could be my gallbladder or something more?

Hello,
1) burning type of pain in middle part of upper abdomen which radiate to chest area is most likely due to gastritis. For this you need evaluation with upper GI endoscopy to find cause for long duration gastritis
2) pain in middle part of upper abdomen radiate to right shoulder and right side of abdomen is generally associated with problem of gall bladder. Generally such pain is episodic and occur in fasting.
3) History of alcohol consumption, previous history of stone in bile duct with above mentioned pain which radiate to back suggest possibility of mild pancreatits which require further investigation.
