What Causes Stomach Pain While Being On Amoxicillin For Strep Throat In Children?

My 6 year old daughter was diagnosed with strep throat 14 days ago with stomachache being her main symptom. She completed a course of Amoxicillin but had continued tummy pain throughout. She has now been put on Keflex and has only had two doses (started today). She continues to wake up in the middle of the night (up now)... Her tummy pain causes her to breathe deeply and her heart races...maybe from anxiety? She keeps saying she feels like she s going to throw up. Now her teeth are chattering. Do I need to be concerned especially since she s had strep in her system for such a long time? Is the chattering/heart racing typical or need attention?

Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Antibiotics amoxicillin or keflex can cause gastric irritation and dysbacteriosis. This can cause stomach pain and nausea. Give these medications only after food. Taking probiotics will be helpful for dysbacteriosis. Probiotics containing bifidobacter or saccharomyces boulardii can be used for this. Taking yogurt or kefir is also good. For gastric irritation h2 blockers like ranitidine will be helpful. You can ask your GP for this. If getting any symptoms like palpitation get her examined well be a pediatrician for problems like rheumatic fever.
