What Causes Stomach Pain With Black Stool?

I have stomach pain that changes places and increases and decreases in intensity depending on the day, black stool for 2 days now, and abnormally fast resting heart beat. I did start taking pepto bismol a couple days ago and that's when the black stool started.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,my name is Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Black stool is a sign of a hemorrhage from the upper intestinal tract.
I suggest you to see a gastroenterologist for a physical examination.
I also suggest you to do:
-a blood test
-a stool test
-and upper endoscopy to rule out the cause of the symptoms.
Hope that my answer was helpful.
Kind regards!
