What Causes Stomach Upset After Taking Clopilet With Ranitidine?
I suffered vasculitis and got small ulcer, it was happened repeatedly 2 or 3 years interval and 2013 its very severe and took treatment nearly one year, antibiotics+ steroids and Endoxan drip later time, now i was OK with immunace and i thought not happen again. It started one month ago and healing well. But i still did ice pad compression every day. This time the dermatlogist gave me Clopilet once a day with rinitidine too. i got little stomach upset and bowel habits changed ( frequent motion and even evening time ) She told me she wanted to give med not to be thick blood. i d like to know why she give this and can i stop when, she gave me for one month. I did med check yearly and no ht problem severely.

In vasculitis, sometimes small blood clots occur inside blood vessels, especially arteries(thrombosis), causing obstruction to blood flow and peripheral ulcers. May be to prevent this, your doctor has given clopilet (it prevents thickening / clotting of blood), although I am not aware of your full clinical profile. Clopilet is well known to cause gastric upset and dyspepsia in many- leading to your fresh symptoms- Ranitidine given can counteract this side effect to some extend.
Try taking clopilet soon after food with one full glass of water, and avoid caffeinated items and spicy food as far as possible. In such cases, I used to give antacids like gelusil for 5 days. If still not getting better by 3 days, you can request your doctor to give a more potent acid suppressant like esmoprazol.
