What Causes Stomach Upset After Taking Metronidazole?

I recently had my Pap smear and had been having anal and vaginal itching. The next day the dr called in a prescription for metronidazole 500 mg 2X daily 5 day into med not better plus upset stomach dr immediately started me on 0.75 vaginal gel same medicine. Dr said I had a bacterial vaginal infection, but I m not better and I ve finished medicine also I DO NOT HAVE A DISCHARGE! Please help

Hi, stomach upset is a side effect of metronidazole. It alters the stomach flora. You can use some vaginal wash. Also, you can take some other medicines like a combination of ofloxacin and ornidazole. Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
