Dr. Sahab, My twin sons are 6 months old, are passing stools after feed. They often put their fingers in mouth. Dr. said due to that only they have upset stomach. Is it teething symptom? As they want to chew anything at hand. First, twin-1 was affected. Dr. advised bifiliac and zinc. There was some improvement but now twin-2 is also affected. kindly advise.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the contents and understand your concern. As you have rightly suggested, due to teething the gums irritate and infants tend to put each and every thing that they can reach in to the mouth. This cause infection and loose motion. The treatment given with Zinc and Bifilac is good enough. There is no need to give any other antibiotic usually. If loose motions persist then you can give a combination like ofloxacin plus ornidazole in liquid form for about 4 to 5 days. It necessary to see that the babies are well hydrated. Thanks.
