Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on statin drugs for several years now and recently switched to Crestor 40 on advice from my Doctor. While I had no noticable side effects at first I noticed over time that my stools became thick and soft where they used to be firm and quite regular. After being on the medication for about a year I stopped to see if the conditoin would go away. I've been off for 3 months now and the stool condtition for the most part has stayed the same. In addition to the Crestor I take a 300mg CoQ10 and fish oil supliments. My doctor has advised me to restart the Crestor thinking that the soft stools are not related. Any thoughts?
hello welcome statin drugs are very useful in lowering bad cholesterol levels. they also have antioxidant effects on the heart. they are usually well tolerated drugs with least side effects. if you compare the risks vs benefits, the benefits are way ahead. continue taking crestor. i dont think that is the cause of your stool consistency changes. thank you wishing you good health
