What Causes Strange Metallic Smell After Stopped Apo Mometasone And Sandoz Azithromycin?
i have been taking medication apo mometasone along with sandoz azithromycin. the medication is finish and i ve been experiencing a strange metallic smell for a week now. i thought it was a gas leak or draino that my husband poured down the sink to clear a clog but both problems have been resolve and i m still experiencing this smell on and off. can you please tell me if this has anything to do with the medication?

Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. Azithromycin & Mometasone you had taken has caused this as a common side effect. Both the medications lead to dryness of mucus membranes as such & antibiotic causes depletion of normal/ protective bacterial flora ( Lactobacilli residing in the mucus membrane lining) Altogether effect being dryness/ metallic smell to breath & loss of taste. This can be avoided by drinking lot of warm water through out the day & probiotic( Lactobacillus preparation over the counter / B complex supplement. ) supplement during & after the therapy . Thanks
