Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
HI I do not smoke, drink or take medication. I eat normal healthy foods. I am near 60 years of age. All my vitals and bloodwork levels are in the normal range. Nothing is medically wrong with me. Sometimes my urine smells oddly. If I eat Cheerios, for examples, it smells like Cheerios. I understand urine odor can be based on our intake. Now, WHY does my urine smell like grass?
Your urine smell changes with your intakes because you are not adequately hydrated. Take plenty of fluids, plain water, soups, juice, etc. Take cranberry juice, use probiotics, take enough vitamin C or food rich in vitamin C and maintain good sexual hygiene. You are suggested to get Urinalysis (R/E and C/S) done to detect if you are suffering from UTI, urinary tract infection, E. coli or any kidney, bladder disease. This is to stay on the safer side.
You will be treated accordingly. Stay away from addictions if any. You should get clinically examined by a Urologist or GP to rule out bladder or kidney issues.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
