What Causes Strange Vibrating Sensations In The Body?

Yes. I m a healthy 72 year old woman. Just had something very strange happen. Got up from chair and within five steps I started getting lightheaded but continued walking out door. Within another five steps my head and body and legs were like vibrating, my legs really strongly, and felt a bit nauseous. Was afraid I was going to pass out but held on to railing and within probably 30 seconds it passed. I immediately thought low blood pressure, but the vibration was very strange and scary. Anything you can tell me about such vibration feelings throughout the body? It wasn t a tingling. Too rapid for that and not distinct like tingling is.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You might have experienced orthostatic hypotension. Should have sat down immediately not continuing walking.

As you insisted to walk, the hypotension affected the nerve part causing vibration of legs and weakness due to lack of good blood circulation.

Please keep monitoring your blood pressure (BP) and report this episode to your caring doctor.

Keep well hydrated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
