Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have 6 stress fractures in my foot after starting a walking program. I have had 2 others in the past 2 years in each heel. My dexa scan is fine. Could an elevated creatinine level and eGFR of 53 with low vitamin D ( I live in Florida and outside a lot) have anything to do with stress fractures. Sick of wearing this boot!
Stressfractures are caused by the repetitive application of force, often by overuse like repeatedly jumping up and down or running long distances and also in normal use of a bone that's been weakened by a condition such as osteoporosis. 3 things to take care: 1. Rest - bear less weight on the affected limb 2. Apply ice - to reduce swelling and pain 3. Resume activity slowly. To prevent bone erosion and heal better, take calcium, phosphate, vitamin C and vitamin D supplements in the form of tablets or its rich foods.
