What Causes String Like Growth On Uvula?

I have a little string hanging down from my uvula it almost looks like a little bubble at the end. It doesn't hurt but is making me feel like I have a hair in my throat, etc. I have noticed it before, but it is no really bothering me when I swallow. sometimes when i swallow you cannot see it and then suddenly it will hang down. When I try to touch it it just get really long and string like. I am wondering if this is serious and needs to be removed?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have string like growth on uvula. Well uvula is a small fleshy elongated portion that is located in the posterior edge of the middle of the soft palate. It is surrounded by an epithelial layer and is majorly comprised of highly vascular soft connective tissues and there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like infection of uvula also known as uvulitis , allergy or trauma . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test along with physical examination . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics at least for a week along with anti inflammatory . Doctor may also prescribe immunosuppressants . For now do warm saline rinses several times a day .
