Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, For about a month or two now I have had redness and itching in the inner corner of my left eye and the under eyelid area is more red and inflamed then the right side. I have seen 2 or 3 doctors now and they claim it is allergies. A white stringy discharrge is starting to form now in my eye. I m just wondering if its possible to only have allergic reactions in one eye? it s always my left eye, never my right...and I have never had any issues with allergies before. Thanks
Dear- I understand your concern and will give you my medical advise. Eye discharge can be allergy, mostly affects both eyes but can be seen in one.Other possibility is obstruction in the lacrimal sac or tube in only one eye and that can give the discharge from it. I recommend you to see an ophtalmologist and have a complete evaluation of your eyes. If there is an obstruction of the lacrimal tube, there is a simple procedure where the ophtalmologist can insert tube plugs in the area and relieve the drainage. I hope that my advise has been helpful and thanks for using our system. Dr.Sara
