What Causes Strong Odor From The Back Of Throat?

Even though I am brushing my teeth after every meal. I have this bad odor coming from the back of my throat. I know that my teeth and gums are good. I have even tried gargling with salt water. The odor is masked for a little while but keeps coming back

Hello,

The most common causes of bad odor from mouth can be:

-poor oral hygiene
-postnasal Drip
-dental problems like gum disease and cavities
-dentures
-certain foods and drinks like garlic, onions, and coffee
-medical conditions such as sinusitis,throat infection,lung infection
-some medications like insulin shots.
-a foreign body in the nose (usually in children).
-dry mouth
-diabetes

How to get rid of bad breath:
-Brush and floss teeth regularly.
-Keep the mouth moist
-treat medical issues that can be the cause of bad breath
-Use a saline nasal spray or nasal irrigation if the cause is the postnasal drip.A mucus-thinning medication can be useful too.
