Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Even though I am brushing my teeth after every meal. I have this bad odor coming from the back of my throat. I know that my teeth and gums are good. I have even tried gargling with salt water. The odor is masked for a little while but keeps coming back
The most common causes of bad odor from mouth can be:
-poor oral hygiene -postnasal Drip -dental problems like gum disease and cavities -dentures -certain foods and drinks like garlic, onions, and coffee -medical conditions such as sinusitis, throat infection, lung infection -some medications like insulin shots. -a foreign body in the nose (usually in children). -dry mouth -diabetes
How to get rid of bad breath: -Brush and floss teeth regularly. -Keep the mouth moist -treat medical issues that can be the cause of bad breath -Use a saline nasal spray or nasal irrigation if the cause is the postnasal drip.A mucus-thinning medication can be useful too.
Hope this helps, Kind regards, Dr.Mersi
