What Causes Stuck Sensation In Throat?

Just talked to my 86 year old Dad and he says he has something stuck in his throat but can still swallow and breathe just fine. He thinks it may be a lima bean. He states he can feel it move up and down some and has had it 2 days now. May not be in esophagus....Any suggestions? Thank you!

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . Usually this kind of symptom occur due to irritation of mucosa of throat which get inflamed and cause such feeling . This kind of condition go away in 1-2 days with warm saline gargles . but if it persist for longer period then you should consult ENT specialist(ear,nose,throat)

Because it could be because of stuck food or object,tonsilitis, acid reflux and growth outside esophagus. Some times it also indicate stroke like condition .

for now ask him to do warm saline rinses several times a day.
