Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The vessels in my eyes keep rupturing. I had cataract & glaucoma surgery in April and July and the vessels have been rupturing since June. Why does this keep happening? My surgeon said he thought it would have stopped by now, when I saw him at the beginning of November. Sometimes it is quite painful when they burst.
1. Sub conjuctival hemorrhage is a common cause of eye redness and in elderly systemic vascular disease like hypertension diabetes, and arteriosclerosis are major risk factors and since it is recurrent/persistent on you thus further evaluation including workup for systemic hypertension, bleeding disorders (thrombocytopenia and platelet dysfunction),systemic and ocular malignancies and drug side effects is warranted.
2.check with an Opthalmologist who after careful slit-lamp examination will determine to rule out any local ocular condition and after excluding ocular factors, further systemic evaluation is necessary.
