Hi, I m doing a case study about a 4 month old Amish infant who died of a subdural hematoma. Some suspect Shaken Baby Syndrome; but the case is also leaning towards liver disease and deficiency of vitamin K. Any suggestions on where this is heading? Thanks!

What Causes Subdural Hematoma?
Hello, Liver diseases can cause increased bleeding tendency and a trivial trauma can lead to uncontrolled bleeding and that might cause subdural hematoma. The liver is the site from which vitamin-K is synthesized and which can be the cause for low vitamin-K as well. In normal kids vigorous shaking can cause concussions and subdural bleed is very unlikely. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
