What Causes Sudden Blacking Out Post Sun Exposure And Alcohol Consumption?
my wife spent the day fishing in aruba .We were on the boat from 8:00 am-12:00 pm.We spent the next 5 hrs.sunning ourselves on the beach,we had lunch outside and she had 2 margerettas.after her second margaretta we got up from our seats and she immediatly passed out.I saw her eyes roll up and I tried to catch her but she blacked out.A tourist helped us ,the lady took her pulse and put wet towel on her heard. The lady said she is a nurse and my wife`s pulse was good. After a few minutes we got her up from the floor ,she said that she felt better so we left the resturant and went back to our room. What could cause this.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Prakruthi's Response
Hi She must have had a heat stroke. Exposure to high temperatures without sweating may sometimes cause the core temperature of our bodies to rise suddenly causing such symptoms. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. And when she has to go out in the sun for long periods it's important to stay hydrated consume sufficient fluids. If these incidents repeat she will have to visit a doctor to see if there is any underlying condition. But from the description you have given it doesn't look worrisome. I wish your wife good health. Take care :)
