Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was driving , slightly looked down at speedometer and when i looked back up the highway looked like it was waving up and down and moving side to side to the point that I couldnt see the road to keep it between the lines. I yelled for my wife to take the wheel and we safely got off the road.It only lasted about 3-4 seconds.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is possible to have these crises when we quickly change the head position. When we look down and quickly lift up our head to look up this might cause changes in the blood pressure in the brain and short episodes of vision disturbance till the pressure goes back to the usual levels. To make sure it is just a pressure change it might be recommended to have a heart ECG, blood sugar levels (basic metabolic profile) and a CBC to rule out anemia. If all these tests come out normal than very likely it is the pressure change with head position change and is self limited. The way to prevent it is to do slow head movements from down to up position, and make sure you are well hydrated (drink plenty of fluids during the day).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Antoneta Zotaj, MD
