Hi,

Yes, according to what you've mentioned here, it could be an episode of "a migraine with aura". Aura is a neurological presentation of a migraine, in your case is experienced with visual changes that last less than 60 minutes. Typically the bright light is one of the triggers of aura (visual changes) and the problem resolve by itself especially after you rest in a dark room.

I understand that you did not have any episode of headache after the visual problem right? The visual problem was in one or both eyes? If you did not have any headache after, the problem was only in one eye and if you have another episode you should do an examination of your eyes to rule out any retinal problems or blood vessels problems of the eye.

Meanwhile, to prevent another episode I would recommend:
-Sleep healthy, not too much and not too little. Organize your sleep time.
-Avoid stress, caffeine.
Rest always in a dark room when the symptoms start(which I believe you must be doing already).
-Use painkillers (eg. Tylenol, Ibuprofen) for the headache.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
