What Causes Sudden Blurred Vision And Low BP?

Hello. My 11 year old daughter has been having episodes where all of a sudden she can t see anything in front of her for about 5 seconds. This has been going on for about a month. I took her to her pediatrician and her dr said she has low pressure. I was just wondering is there anything I can give her to help with this?

Hello,
Thanks for Writing to Health Care Magic and putting trust in us regarding your Health related query.
I am Dr. Saleha and I have read your message in detail, I understand your concern and will try to help you in this.

I am sorry to know about the problem your daughter is having but I will like to assure you that this problem is not something to be worried about much.
Kids specially this age do have active physical life and they sweat alot but don't drink water and salts much, this can cause a fall in blood pressure which might manifest itself as black out, lethargy or falls specially when they stand from a sitting or lying position.

There is nothing to be worried about this though because simple things can be done with great benefits to your child.

+ Encourage her to drink ample fluid and also give her salt replenishment if she is physically much active. This can be done using drinks like Pedialite or Tang.
+ When you have to do something urgently, if she feels dizzy, just give her a boiled egg with salt and loads of water.
Salt and water do maintain good blood pressure in body if it's low. You won't need to give her any medicine but salt and water replenishment.

You can also get a blood pressure monitor (with a paediatric BP cuff) and can monitor her blood pressure when she gets the symptoms , if she keeps getting the problem with normal BP then other causes may well be discussed with your doctor.

Regards.

Dr.Saleha Saeed.
