What Causes Sudden Blurred Vision With A Blood Clot?
Hi. Just got back from emergency visit to ophamologist for sudden blurred vision that started a week ago. He said it was a blocked artery from blood clot. He gave a shot w/ medicine and drops but sent me home w/ no sheet nor could he answer the question about what to do about the blood clot. Have follow up in 3 weeks and expect to hear from my pcp about blood work. What happens next and should I be worried?
clot blocking artery or branch of it will not cause blurred vision. clot blocking a branch or main artery will cause loss of vision. anticoagulant is recommended as treatment. it is to be reviewed by retinal surgeon. further treatment will be recommended after review.
Hello Welcome to health care magic. I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having retinal artery occlusion. This requires evaluation by a ophthalmologist or preferably by a retina specialist to look for extent of involvement and severity of condition and to decide on the further course of treatment. Fund us fluorescein angiography and other investigations like ocular coherence tomography are required for further evaluation.
Thank you
