What Causes Sudden Blurred Vision With Flashing In An Eye?

My 17 year old son just came home and said that when he was getting in his car from leaving my parents house he had a sudden blurred vision in his right eye. Once he got home he explained to me and now he is saying flashing but blurry up close in his right eye only

Hello and thanks for writing.

I can understand your concern and would do the best u can to help you. Blurred vision in one eye may be due to several reasons like optic neuritis, vasculitis, temporal arteritis, any medications, trauma or visual problems. It is advisable for you to get it worked up. He may require tests like a conplete eye checkup including a fundoscopy, CBC with ESR, CT scan of the head and other tests to reach to a diagnosis. I sugget you see a doctor so that the condition may be worked up and proper manangement plan be formulated for your son.
