What Causes Sudden Breathing Difficulty While Sleeping?

Hello doctor my age 36 male married. I have issues while sleeping in night I wake abruptly all of a sudden I feel like something stopping or unable to breath.occasionally I do feel uncomfortable in the day time. I have a high bp measuring 90 140 so I am advised to take nebistar 5 for 2 years still continuing. I suffer problems with GERD as well. I took a tmt as per doctors advise and see some variations. Could you please help me by providing your suggestion on this.

Hi,

Since you are suffering from hypertension, we should definitely rule out OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) for your sudden breathing difficulty in sleep.

So better to consult a sleep specialist and get done a detailed sleep study.
If apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) is high then you are having OSA and you will need weight reduction (if obese) and CPAP machine. So consult a sleep specialist and discuss all these.
