Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hey My mom just says that she is having a chest burn in the left side. I went to couple of hospitals but they were not able to figure out what the problem is. She has been taking this medicine called Pepto Bismol which has stopped the burn for sometime but it has increased it again.
As per your query you have sudden chest burns . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons , but in your case it seems to me that symptoms are due to acid reflux . Well acid reflux along with medicine require life style changes also . I would suggest you to avoid spicy and heavy food specially at night , eat at least one hour before going to sleep , take light walk after every meal , take antacid (Pepto Bismol ) after every meal and take small and frequent meals . If condition doesn't improve or get worse then consult gastroenterologist for proper evaluation . Doctor may prescribe ranitidine or omeprazole along with surgery . Keep your head elevated while sleeping.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
