What Causes Sudden Chest Pain, Faded Hearing And A Sore Arm?

I was sitting at my desk at work and all of a sudden my heart felt like it skipped almost 3 beats my hearing seemed to fade out I was on the phone at the time. My head also had pressure suddenly and my left arm was feeling strange then it s like my heart started to pick back up the pace. This was a a few days ago and now my left arm has been so sore since. I m 28 not over weight could you tell me if it s something I need to worry about now? This has never happened before and I don t take any meds for anything.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for your query.

Your symptoms would lead me to primarily really out a heart pathology. Skipped beats compromises blood flow, the effects of which you felt (faded hearing, pressure in head, arm soreness)

Do you:
1)have a family history of heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol Thyroid hormone imbalances?
2)smoke or have alcohol (as in alcohol abuse)?
3)have any general health check up reports ? (to check heart, Thyroid, sugar, cholesterol & blood pressure)
4)a sedentary lifestyle with high stress & little or no exercise?

I would do a complete physical exam, an Electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, a stress test, chest x-ray, an ultrasound of the abdomen, blood work (lipid profile, cardiac enzymes, liver/kidney/thyroid function tests, complete blood count, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate & sugar levels) & a urine routine.

If all this is normal, i would monitor you closely & if symptoms recur, will do a Holter monitoring test to catch any irregularities in your heart rhythm over 24hrs.

Hope this helps. you need to seek medical attention ASAP to nip the problem in the bud. As far as the heart & brain goes, time (even a few minutes) matters.
Please get back to us if you need any clarification.
Wish you good health
