What Causes Sudden Decrease In The Heart Rate?

Hello Doctor, My grandpa is 87 years old and in 2007 he had a heart attack but he was ok for a while and now his heart beat actually slows down sometimes, we called 911 and they said we have to see the Gp early morning but is there anything we could do?

Hello , At the age of 87 there is high pre deposition to changes in the rhythm and rate of the heart , particularly because of age related degenerative changes and tge previous heart attack.
So when you say that the pulse was on lower side , an Ekg is strongly suggested . This would give us an idea about a thee rhythm during such episode, some medication can cause this particularly beta blockers which he can be on due to the heart attack . The most important thing here is to rule out conduction block in the heart for the electrical impulse.
I strongly suggest you meet your doctor and get your grandpa evaluated
