Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
After eating dinner last night my husband had 3 bowel movements. We went to bed and he became very cold.. cold sweats shaking.. early this morning he became very dizzy lightheaded could not see straight. Then pooped the bed diarrhea freezing cold could not walk right.. is this just really bad flu?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your husband having three bowel movements in the night after dinner, with severe changes like cold, sweating, shaking, bed diarrhea, dizzy, can not stand and see properly, wants to know whether this is severe flu. With the history you have provided, this does not seem to be flu. Looks to be severe gastroenteritis with bacteremia and/or septicemia. I would advise you the following: Take him urgently to the ER so that clinical evaluation, examination can be done. Resuscitating measures are very important. Water and electrolyte balance and functioning of the Kidneys and all other vital organs is mandatory.
