Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I had an episode of fainting while standing recently. I had similar episode in 2007 and went thru thorough check ups in Singapore like MRI, colonoscopy, eye examination, blood exams, urine tests and everything found ok. This time BP was low 95/55. I am 60 years old. I am diabetic since 1998, and well in control with Hba1c of 6.1 - 6.7 with Metformin, exercise and diet. How do I prevent a recurrence ?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Sudden dizziness should be due to low Blood pressure (95/55). Low blood pressure could occur due to excessive sweating, water loss due to diarrhea, due to diuretics, Due to blood pressure lowering medicines, etc. To prevent its re-occurrence, You should stop taking blood pressure lowering medicines or any diuretics, if you are taking. You should increase your water & salt intake. Standing long time in sun should also be stopped.
However Hba1c of 6.1 - 6.7 in diabetic is normal & same control with Metformin, exercise and diet is advised
Refer to your doctor
Hope this information helps
