What Causes Sudden Drop In BP Level Leading To Fainting?
In August I had a sudden drop in my blood pressure I went unconscious and fell into a door frame then the floor. I hit the left side of my head leaving a large knot then I hit my chest and sternum then finally the floor chipping my chin. My Doctors say I should be back to normal cognitive function within a month or two. Not there yet. Any thoughts on how long I am to have a repeat MRI in 2 months.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Yes, sudden fall in blood pressure would lead to fainting and unconsciousness. This phenomenon is called 'hypotension'. Fall in blood pressure causes inadequate supply of blood to the brain, which would result in loss of consciousness. Generally, within few weeks, you would regain all your normal activities. However, you need to be evaluated by a Physician and investigated to know what could be the cause for it, so that it could be treated accordingly. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
