What Causes Sudden Drop In The BP Level And Chest Pain?

Got bad pain in chest... heart rate went to 195bpm, blood pressure dropped to 90/50 . I was considering calling ambulance but after 15 mins pain abruptly stopped and BP returned to 120/80 which is about normal for me and heart quickly returned to normal. Male, 56 YO quite fit.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem. This is not a good sign you might have suffered a tachy arrhythmia and this is not good if your had pain and BP drop during that, you need a complete checkup and work up for probable cause even if it is fine now, you can not wait for a severe attack.

I would suggest you to visit your doctor he might run some tests like blood works, ECG and stress testing for heart but it is important to rule out any heart condition before any problem starts.

I hope this answered your question, if you have more queries I am happy to answer you.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Ahmad
