Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am type 2 diabetic (my whole family is either 1 or 2) I have begun having frequent nosebleeds, which my Dr. has contributed to allergies. I have use a humidifier, nasal lubricant sprays, I rinse my sinuses every to every other day. TODAY, I had a sudden drop of sugar levels (82) and an immediate nosebleed after. I have recently begun to take glipicide (sp?) and the sugar crashes have been happening since. He has suggested that I split the pills and take 2.5 mg instead of 5. My question is this-can a sudden drop in blood sugar levels stimulate a nosebleed?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, low blood sugar level may not cause epistaxis but this could be due something else and in my opinion complete blood work should be done first, before it labelled the cause of cold, or allergic disorders, hope this information helps, take care.
