What Causes Sudden Elevation In BP Levels In A Throat Cancer Survivor?
I have had cancer and I ve just been told I ve very high blood pressure 230 over 140 I have been given medication straight away I m 55 yrs old female I don t smoke I don t drink I m not overweight and quite fit it was a mystery when they found I had throat cancer 7 years ago and treated me for mygrains for years till it presented itself as grade 4 cancer as a lump in my throat is there any chance I could have cancer again as I was to ill to have my last chemotherapy at Christie and once again it s a mystery . My cousin had cancer and 15 yrs later had a very rare cancer in his lungs that they found eventually and he died at 55 yrs old 4 years ago .
It is very understandable to be concerned about the possibility of recurrence of cancer but this is not the most common cause of increased blood pressure.
Recurrence of cancer can be ruled out by examination and investigations but not necessarily specifically because of the blood pressure.
In rare cases a cause can be found such as abnormal hormone levels (eg thyroid or corticosteroid). Your doctor may want to check hormone levels, kidney function etc
I hope this helps

What Causes Sudden Elevation In BP Levels In A Throat Cancer Survivor?
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic It is very understandable to be concerned about the possibility of recurrence of cancer but this is not the most common cause of increased blood pressure. Recurrence of cancer can be ruled out by examination and investigations but not necessarily specifically because of the blood pressure. High blood pressure is most commonly essential hypertension meaning no specific cause can be identified. There may be a family history In rare cases a cause can be found such as abnormal hormone levels (eg thyroid or corticosteroid). Your doctor may want to check hormone levels, kidney function etc I hope this helps
