What Causes Sudden Episode Of Hearing Loss In The Left Ear?

I am experiencing Sudden Sensorineuro Hearing Loss in left ear. Began 10/24, ie about 10 days ago. Wondering what is a normal time frame for recovery, if it is going to recover? I am taking Prednisone 20 mg tapering (I am 62 yo), and Serc (to improve circulation). Any indication of normal time you can give me would be helpful.
