What Causes Sudden Fainting?

Hello Doctor. I m John, and I m 55 years of age. This morning while I had been in attendance at 9am Mass I felt very faint, like as if I was about to pass out. Without hesitation I left immediately, and once out in the fresh air I felt My normal Self. I have NO health issues. I do not drink alcohol, or take drugs, never. I m afraid that this may be a warning sign, and am wondering what might cause this. Thank You Doctor for Your help. From John, in West Cork, Ireland.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sudden feeling of fainting can occur due altered blood sugar or blood pressure levels which should be checked first. Age related fatigue and nutritional deficiencies can also be the reason. Complete blood count should be taken to rule out any abnormalities.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
