What Causes Sudden Hair Loss?

I am 40 5ft 1 inch. I weigh 70lbs and have no previous serious health issues. I am an African American female and I have thick hair that is mid back length. my temples have begun to fall out and now I have near bald sides. what could be causing this.I do no not wear braids and do no pull my hair tightly. I notice that the hair that is falling out has a thick white tip and the balding areas have a slight crust. what is causing this. please advise .

Hello,

Sudden hair fall can be caused by fungal infection because you said you have a slight crust. You can try anti-fungal medicine if it not better see your doctor they may need to test your systemic disease that can cause hair fall.
