What Causes Sudden Headache And Tingling Sensation In The Right Cheek?

I have a sudden headache, with tingling in my right cheek. My teeth feel like they hurt also. I just had my dental appointment on the 13th of December. Had old cracked fillings replaced. Haven t had any problems since that appointment. Feel a little lightheaded. I do get migraines, but should I be concerned? I have a history of a TIA due to a PFO that has been closed. Thanks.

Hi,

As per your complain sudden headache, tingling of cheek and teeth hurting can all be signs of sinus infection or Maxillary Sinusitis. As the maxillary sinuses lies close to the upper teeth therefore, any infection related to it can cause facial pain or tingling, and achy teeth. But as you have a history of Transient Ischemic Attack therefore you should take care of the symptoms.

I would suggest you to first of all consult an ENT Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like PNS view x ray or MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestants like Pseudoephadrine, do saline nasal irrigation, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room. You can also be advised decongestant nasal sprays containing Xylometazoline or Oxymetazoline.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
