What Causes Sudden Hot Sensation In Right Lower Leg?

I am experiencing a sensation in my right lower leg where it will suddenly feel hot, as if I were standing near a heater. This will last about two to three minutes then return to normal only to feel warm again in ten to twenty minutes. I have never had this sensation before. I am 73 years old, female , with chronic back pain for which I receive PT occasionally. I take medication for TIA episode six yrs ago, pain medication, thyroid med for hypothyroidism and a low dose antidepressant.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

Welcome to HCM

Thanks for asking a question

I will be glad to answer it for you

The symptoms you are facing are called " hot flashes"

They are common in menopausal women, and in thyroid patients.

First thing, get a TSH test done and see if any dose adjustment is required.

Second, if thyroid levels are normal, but if you get hot flashes still, this can be due to hormonal disturbances caused in menopause. You can seek the help of the doctor and take hormonal replacement therapy.

Hope this helps

Best Regards
Dr Chaithanya
