What Causes Sudden Increase In Heartbeat Rate While Climbing Stairs?
Hi, recently ive moved houses and my room is in the atic so I have a lot of walking up steep stairs. And I get hard bangs of my heart beating fast for a few seconds and I don t understand why? Even when i am relaxed it has a spazwm attack. Is it because I m not used to exercise? Because I do walk a lot everyday. Please help?
Hello and welcome to HCM, It is normal for the heart to beat faster with increase in physical activity. Thus, you will experience some increase in heart rate when you climb stairs. The increased heart activity will continue for few minutes after the vigorous physical activity and take some time to settle down. However, if you are experiencing that the heart activity is excessive, inappropriate for physical activity or present at rest also then you need to consult a cardiologist for clinical assessment of cardiac system along with relevant investigations. In case any abnormality is detected it can be managed appropriately.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
