Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sudden Intermittent Pressure In Head Along With Muffled Hearing?
I am not sure if I need to see a doctor for this or not. I have high blood pressure and I check it and the levels have been where they are supposed to be, may be even a little low, and I am on gabapentin for sciatic pain due to a bulged disc. The last few days just randomly I have been getting large amounts of pressure in my head that last for about a minute and it is so much pressure that it muffles my hearing. I have notice it happening when I have sat for a little while (as in driving) and then move. Should I be concerned?
Hi, Generally speaking, we experience a kind of discomfort when we change the position of our body, kept for a long time. It requires some seconds to adopt from abrupt change in position (from sitting or lying down to standing). The pressure that you describe as "large amounts" is what attracts my attention. Is this followed by headache, dizziness, nausea or blurred vision? If not, you should not worry, chances to be something serious are very few. What you can do is stay well hydrated and avoid abrupt changes in body position. If this kind of discomfort persists I would strongly recommend you to see a neurologist.
