I ve been sick going on a month now with a list of diff symptoms. Been to 5 diff docs over 9 visits with no def diagnosis. Started with a feeling of blockage behind my sinuses but could breathe clearly, nose was completely clear not stuffiness, running or sneezing. After a few days started losing sense of smell and sense of taste went flat along with lots of coughing. Also started losing voice like I had laryngitis. Had periodic headaches and fevers all day too. Have no allergies or asthma but tried the top 3 OTC allergy meds with no success. Went to ENT who put me on antibiotics, prednisone and mucinex with no result. He sent me to allergist who did asthma test with neg results, and scratch tests which said I was allergic to trees but with no sneezing it didn t seem to fit my problem. Allergist put me on more antibiotics, acid reflux pills and nose sprays which all did not help. Back to ENT who insisted it was allergies, by then I started having chest pain on right side which he pushed off as a pulled muscle from coughing and put me on more allergy meds. I stopped going to him, went to primary. Gave me chest xray and ct scan of sinuses and put me on levaquin. Tests were neg and still have to cough and clear my throat all day long. Chest pain getting worse, especially when sneezing feels like being stabbed. I can t sit up in bed, roll over in bed, cough, hiccup or take deep breathe without pain. Primary said probably a busted rib the xray couldn t see and gave me lidocain patches for the pain which didn t work, and a nebulizer for my throat. I didn t think I needed a nebulizer so i went to a fourth doc, my chiro. I had him take a second chest xray and it showed no broken bones but did show calcification on my cartilage and a white spot towards the center of my chest. This doc said it was possibly a mucus plug but he couldn t be sure and suggested I see a pulmonist. Pulmonist verified the calcification, couldn t tell me what the white spot was, but said the chest pain must just be some type of irritation to the chest wall, a tendon, etc and to use OTC analgesics and heat/ice till the pain goes away. Also that I had been prescribed way too many meds and to stop everything. He did his own breathe test and again said neg for asthma. So far everything I have tried for the chest pain has not worked. I am not sure where to go now, I m just doing as much online research of my symptoms as I can until I find enough information to bring to a doc and say look this is what it looks like now do something. I can not go along with the idea that some things just can not be diagnosed. I feel like my problems are simple but that I can not find a doc who is skilled enough to find it. Please help.
