What Causes Sudden Low Bp In Hypertensive Patient?

I have 'malignant' hypertension and monitor b/p twice a day. the doctors have put me on various b/p to stabilize. it always runs high but tonight for some reason it is unusually low 88/66! my pills are in a container so I know when I have taken them and when I haven't.

Hello. I understand your fear, but you will be fine. It is a common occurrence with hypertensive medications, especially beta blockers. Your blood pressure is not too low at 88/66 mmHg and shouldn't be much of a problem especially if it does not drop lower than this or if you are not having symptoms. If your blood pressure should drop lower or you develop symptoms of hypotension like dizziness, fainting etc. You should consult your physician so he/she will review and make an adjustment. Warm regards
