Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sudden Numbness In The Arm, Leg And Head?
Wife, out of state with relatives, has experienced some occasional numbness in right leg (recent meniscal injury) and now texted regarding numbness on right side of body -- leg, arm, and some in back of head. Has lingered for about last 30-45 mins or so. I m doing quick online search for her (hoping it s not TIA?). Thanks.
The numbness started in the right leg and then experienced on the right side of the body. Many a times this can . But then it is important to rule out any neurological condition as you have suspected TIA. TIA is Transient Ischemic Attack Hence I would advise your wife the following: Please consult any Doctor and preferably a Neurophysician for clinical evaluation, examination and relevant investigations like MRI of brain and/or cervical spine as the cause may be suspected. I hope she is not diabetic or hypertensive, if so a proper re-check and adjustment of the dosages is a must. Meniscal injury is related to the knee joint and hence not related to the present problem unless there was concurrent head-injury at that time.
Hope I have answered your query. Feel free to ask for further relevant queries.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant, General & ENT Surgeon
