What Causes Sudden Onset Of Diarrhea While Treating Measles?

My baby has measles, ampiclox &vitamic was given as recommended by medical personnel, she Improved greatly after a day.rashes are.disappearing and feeding has improved. But she started having diarrhea, she has stooled 5times today. I m worried especially about the diarrhea. Wot do I do?

Hi,

It is suggestive of Ampiclox associated diarrhea. Diarrhea is a frequent side effect of antibiotics like Ampiclox. Ampiclox can disturb the composition and function of the normal intestinal flora resulting in overgrowth by pathogenic or harmful microorganisms which can lead to diarrhea. You can give her probiotics ('good bacteria') in the form of Vizylac or Sporlac powder along with the prescribed Ampiclox and keep your baby hydrated.
